A blend of Merlot, Cabernet and Sangiovese that marries Mediterranean generosity with structure and complexity. Winemaker Axel Heinz lauds the 2016 vintage for its near-perfect climate, resulting in a profile of vibrant fruit and a silky texture, underscored by fresh acidity. The growing season saw warm winter temperatures and heavy February rainfall, leading to timely budbreak in March. Normal vegetative growth in April and May's dry, sunny weather during flowering set the stage for an average summer with little rain, inducing water stress towards ripening. Harvest began early in August, progressing steadily with excellent phenolic potential until mid-October. Fermented separately in steel tanks to preserve varietal characteristics, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation before aging for 10 months in a mix of barriques and cement tanks, achieving a balance between tannic structure and fresh fruit expression.
